Ajay Devgn starrer Shivaay, which released along with Karan Johar directorial Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, might show a downfall in its box office collection this week. The film as compared to its competition ADHM, has shown a good fight but has not been able to cross the benchmark. According to Taran Adarsh, film trade analyst, the business of Shivaay might have got affected due to a festive weekend but he added that both the films might show a good growth this week. Shivaay which opened with a collection of Rs 10.24 crore on Friday and did a business of Rs 10.06 crore on its day two is likely to see a spike from Monday.

In comparison to the Ranbir Kapoor starrer ADHM, Shivaay has been able to mint only Rs 28.56 crore by the end of its first week. The film collected Rs 10.24 cr on its opening day but by Sunday, the film did show a major downfall. Shivaay stayed strong at single screens/mass circuits, unlike ADHM which is enjoying a better reception at multiplexes. While Karan Johar directorial is winning hearts with romance and heartbreak, Shivaay is turning heads for being a high octane action and drama. ADHM has done well in the international markets too. However, the international collection of Shivaay, which was promoted abroad as well, has not yet been revealed.

Shivaay marks Ajay Devgn’s comeback as a director after 8 long years. Last film which Ajay Devgn directed was U Me Aur Hum, which also starred his actor-wife Kajol. Shivaay, which is largely based on a father-daughter relationship, stars debutants Sayyeshaa Saigal, Erika Kaar and Abigail Eames. In an exclusive interview with indianexpress.com, Ajay expressed that Shivaay is special to him and it took him 2 years to complete this project.
